Federal College of Education, Katsina formally known as Federal Advanced Teachers’ College Katsina was founded in 1976. It has the mandate to initially produce well qualified holders of Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) to teach in both Primary and Junior Secondary Schools in the Country. At its inception, the College operated on two campuses, one at the U.P.E. Teachers’ College Dutsin-ma and the other at scattered locations in Katsina town. The Dutsin-ma Campus was for science students while the Katsina Campus catered for the Arts, Humanities and Vocational Education students. However, in 1981 when the permanent site was considered reasonably developed, all the students and staff from the satellite campuses were moved to the present location of the College which is along Katsina – Dutsin-ma road.

Welcome to Federal College of Education Katsina, Katsina State Official Website
Our College has enjoyed an exceptional unbreakable chain of harmonious industrial relations between the Management and the staff and students Unions. This is partly because our Governments have been considerate and responsive to the welfare of staff and students and partly because the College was lucky to have been blessed with Managements and Union Leaders that always put common interests above personal interests and worked hard for the development of the College.
Iwo people and its leaders, particularly, the Traditional Leaders of Katsina, have been very hospitable and supportive to College since its establishment. The pioneer leaderships of the College have done an excellent work of establishing and sustaining a mutually beneficial relation with our host community. Therefore, we made sure we build upon that through; the recruitment of more junior staff and security personnel on casual basis from Katsina and neighboring towns.
The College had and is still into collaborations/affiliations with so many National and International Organizations and Universities like UNICEF, DFID, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Federal and State Universities in Katsina State, Other Tertiary Institutions, National Teachers Institute (NTI) Universal Basic Education (UBEC), State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) etc.
